Science Week 2026
Science Week kicked off with a bang as students undertook investigations, science experiments, completed engineering challenges and navigated robots through mazes. Miss Colla led students through a series of rotational activities in TRIBE groups.
Four activities were rotated through during the day with the first focusing on science and change. Students made their own sherbet and trialled the taste by adding in a wide range of ingredients. They also experimented with hydrophobic sand showing when submerged in water, it traps a layer of air, refuses to get wet, and can be molded into strange shapes before emerging completely dry.
The second station allowed students to pour and spread paper pulp before gently pushing seeds into the pulp. This will be an active growing ingredient for them to plant later in the week. They then looked at different types of seeds using magnifying glasses and identifying the different characteristics within.
During the third rotation students paired up for a maze challenge using various concrete materials. Students created different obstacles that the Spheros would navigate through.
The final task was an engineering challenge where students worked as a tribe to construct the longest domino chain. It was quite a sight to see as students used a variety of surfaces to build their creations.
