Environment Day was a resounding success at Darrang PS. Dress ups, gardening, stories and poems were the feature of the day. Students enjoyed the hands on learning activities during the day.
Our first ever Environment focused day at Darrang was well engaged by all. Our Environment Captain took students through a variety of lessons including following a procedure (Hairy Harry), writing an acrostic poem about the environment, reading a story book selected for each year level and watching an environmentally themed movie - the Lorax.
The books that were read were:
Michael Recycle by Ellie Bethel and Alexandra Colombo
Whale Is Stuck by Charles Fuge and Karen Hayles
The Mess That We Made
Glass Kate Walker
Students at Darrang also dressed to impress creatively embracing the theme. Rainbows, butterflies, cows, capybaras and farmers filled the school.
Thank you to Summer, Ollie and Miss McGinley for their work arranging this special day for us. We look forward to expanding on our program with the introduction of raised garden beds in the coming weeks.
